Have you ever watched the movie, The Egyptian? It’s a 1954 Hollywood motion picture film about the religion of Pharaoh Akhnaton—the Egyptian pharaoh who founded Atenism in ancient Egypt. So, why is the religion of a long-dead pharaoh relevant today? Because Atenism is not only the original source for monotheistic religions, specifically Christianity, Judaism, and Islam; but, the basis of Atenism is also used in the mass Mind Control of humans via modern media. The most effective of which is, undeniably, the Hollywood motion picture industry.

Atenism is based upon the premise God is light. Indeed, there is ‘light’ in the cosmos, also in human consciousness; as well the ancient Egyptians knew. However, the Egyptians were horrified when Akhenton took this single aspect of consciousness, light, and called it “God.” They simply could not understand such a concept, rejecting Atenism wholeheartedly; vehemently reverting to their polytheistic beliefs once the hated pharaoh died. The adamant refusal of the ancient Egyptians to cave to such a religion begs the question: which is correct? Polytheism or monotheism? To the ancient Egyptians, monotheism was evil.

Of course, we must now delve into what polytheism means in order to understand why the ancient Egyptians were so outraged with Atenism. The ancient teachings from the Mystery Schools help us to understand that polytheistic religions represent, with their many gods and goddesses, the various levels of our own human consciousness. Thus, any opinion or philosophy that separates the gods and goddesses from our own consciousness is misinterpreting the concept entirely. We, as humans, are multi-dimensional beings, with various aspects to our experience upon this planet, including such dynamics as thoughts, emotions, dreams, waking visions, intuition, and so on. Each god and goddess of a polytheistic religion represents various of these specific aspects that make up who we are in totality. To separate out just one aspect, to the exclusion of the remainder, is what the ancient Egyptians considered sheer spiritual folly!
